TRADITIONAL SONGS, STEPS & SKILLS: 6-WEEK FAMILY SERIES
Onkwe is inviting Akwesasronon families to connect through traditional singing, dancing, and hands-on learning. This 6-week program is designed for both youth and parents, creating a space where culture and community come together.
Led by Austin Thompson, each session will teach traditional songs and dances. Parents will have the chance to either join their children or engage in a weekly workshop. The first session will feature a basic beading class taught by Ashley Thompson, with new skills and crafts to discover each week.
The program kicks off on Friday, January 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kawehno:ke Recreation Center. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and there’s no limit on participants—the more, the merrier!
Whether you’re singing, dancing, or crafting, this program is all about sharing traditions and strengthening connections.
