TSIIONKWANONHSO:TE LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY NOTIFIED OF SUSPECTED OUTBREAK STATUS
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) would like to inform the community that the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care (LTC) facility has entered into a Suspected Outbreak status on March 8, 2023. One resident has tested positive for COVID-19.
In the event of a Suspected Outbreak, only the person who tested positive for COVID-19 and their close contacts are required to isolate. This differs from previous Outbreak statuses, which mandated isolation for the entire unit where the COVID-19-positive individual(s) resided in.
The team at Tsiionkwanonhso:te is staying in close communication with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) to ensure the appropriate steps are being taken for the current circumstances. At this time, guidelines still allow the LTC facility to receive visitors. Vaccinated individuals are required to wear a mask and social distance; unvaccinated individuals are welcome to visit our residents in our outdoor areas.
The health and safety of our residents and staff remain our utmost priority. Should you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care facility at 613-932-1409.
