UPDATE ON COVID-19 OUTBREAK AT TSIIONKWANONHSO:TE LTC FACILITY
In our ongoing effort to keep the community updated with the latest on the COVID-19 outbreak at the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long Term Care Facility, we are informing the community that two (2) residents have tested positive for COVID-19; we also regret to inform the community that a resident has passed. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne sends its deepest condolences to the family for their loss.
The COVID-related passings have increased to six (6). Under Ontario Health, a person who was infected with COVID-19 at the time they passed away is considered a ‘COVID-19 death’, whether or not COVID-19 was determined to be a contributing or underlying cause of death.
The current statistics for cases at the facility are as follows:
- Total cases of Tsiionkwanonhso:te residents: 21 resident cases
- Total resolved residents: 5 recovered
- Total COVID-related passings: 6
- Total active residents: 9 active (as of January 21, 2021), 2 new positive cases
MCA extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those infected, as well as appreciation to those isolating and quarantining to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. We also extend our sincerest appreciation to our frontline workers and long-term care staff who have remained diligent and dedicated during this most trying time.
